The Potluck Dish Assigner draws from 112 curated, specific dishes in four courses - mains, sides, desserts, and drinks - each with a full list plus something-easy and dietary-friendly subsets. A result names a real dish you can bring, not a vague 'bring a side.'

How the randomness works

Dishes are drawn fairly from the chosen course and bring style, without repeats within a single draw. A three-dish shortlist from a twenty-eight-dish full course is one of 19,656 equally likely ordered lists. An easy or dietary-friendly draw uses eight dishes, so a three-dish shortlist is one of 336. The live counter always shows the exact number for your settings.

Lists stay in the browser. Pair a dish draw with the Random Name Picker or Random Order Generator if you want a fair turn order for who claims the next result. Randomness assigns a dish idea; it does not plan the kitchen, budget, or anyone's plate.

Does this assign a dish to each guest by name?
No. It suggests dishes, not people. Draw one dish per person, or paste names into the Random Order Generator and match the two lists in order.
Is a dietary-friendly result safe for allergies?
No. Labels in the result are a starting point, not a medical guarantee. Guests still need to read ingredients and decide for themselves. If the host has a strict rule, confirm before you cook.
Can I add our club's usual dishes?

Why not just tell people 'bring a dessert'?
Vague assignments make three pies and no salad. A specific dish is easier to shop for and easier to coordinate. Generate again if the first draw does not fit the oven, the drive, or the crowd.
