What this tool does
The Interview Question Generator draws from ninety curated prompts in three sets: general workplace questions, behavioral tell-me-about-a-time prompts, and technical questions aimed at software and everyday workplace skills. Every prompt is family-friendly and safe for classrooms, mock interviews, and hiring panels.
How the randomness works
Questions are drawn fairly from the chosen set, without repeats within a single draw. A five-question draw from a thirty-question set is one of 17,100,720 equally likely ordered lists. Pair it with the Random Name Picker to choose who answers, or with the Random Order Generator to set interview order.
We curate these by hand with a simple test: would this question work at a dinner table with three generations present? Nothing medical, nothing about money decisions, nothing that puts anyone on the spot about private life.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I add my own questions?
- This tool uses our curated sets. For your own question bank, paste your questions into the Custom List Picker - it does exactly the same fair draw from any list you provide.
- Are these only for software jobs?
- No. The general and behavioral sets work for any workplace role. The technical set is software and general workplace skills, not medicine, finance, or other licensed advice.
- Can a random question tell me whom to hire?
- No. A fair draw can only choose a prompt. Hiring still takes judgment, references, and a real conversation. Randomness is not a verdict.
- How many questions can I draw at once?
- Up to eight, with no repeats inside a single draw. Generate again for a fresh set from the same list.
