What this tool does
Generate full character names in three styles: fantasy (Seraphine Blackbriar), science fiction (Vega Redshift), or everyday contemporary (Claire Donovan). First and last names combine independently, giving each style over a thousand possibilities.
How the randomness works
First and last names are drawn independently and fairly from curated, style-consistent lists. Generate a batch and read them aloud - the right name tends to announce itself. Mix styles for characters caught between worlds.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I use these names in published work?
- Yes. Names can't be copyrighted, and these are generated combinations, not real people. As always, search a name before publishing to avoid accidental collisions with famous figures.
- Why do generated names sometimes sound familiar?
- With independent first/last combination, occasionally a real-sounding pairing emerges - that's the nature of names. The everyday list intentionally uses common Western names; more traditions are on our roadmap.
